Enter and park on Carpenter - parking is safe and free- then walk into an opening where you will find a big loading dock area. There is a glass door in the right corner and you will enter there. Look for the Bank of America Marathon banner. Code for door *1079 and come up to the 4th floor, hang a right and walk all the way down - you will smell candles - follow your nose. :)

Hi! We're Sara and Fernando Velarde, two young entrepreneurs and owners of Chicago Candle Co. We launched this candle company in 2013 out of our home. More than 5 years, 50 retail partnerships, and thousands of online sales later, our small business has become something much, much larger and we couldn't be more proud.

We hand-pour our vegan soy wax into cut and polished upcycled bottles. This includes bottles recycled from local shops and cafes in the Chicago-land area! Every candle is still hand-crafted and made right here in Chicago. Our unique scents are made from natural essences that are intensely fragrant. Our special blends are made out of 100% all-natural, clean-burning wax.

This class was cool! I didn't know what to expect with the wine bottle cutting but it was a pleasant and cool experience! Just make sure you pick a wine bottle with a flat bottom. I didn't and it kind of made it difficult for the candle process but my candle still turned out good! I took my mom and her friend for her birthday and they also had a fun time. Everyone should experience this class. I'll be back!

Instructor was very detailed on how to cut your own wine bottle and wanted to make sure you understood how to do it on your own if you wanted to repeat the process at home. Really fun class and would definitely recommend it to all my friends!

Fernando was great, excellent at giving instructions and helping us make our candles. He has a fair amount of interesting wine bottles or you can bring your own and make whatever size candle you desire (within reason) The 2 hours flew by and we even ran a little long.

This small family owned candle making company distributes their beautiful candles Nation-wide. Each glass container and candle is crafted by hand and yet, they find the time to share their mastery with us. So generous!! The class was perfect, I learned a lot and am inspired to make my own candles at home.

Fernando was a kind, funny, and patient teacher! It was really cool to learn about this process (and a great arm workout too, ha ha). Made for a great birthday present for my friend, and both got to take home a keepsake of the experience. You get to choose your bottle, wax color, and scent -- so it's really personal. A great way to make use of a special wine bottle too.

This class was so much fun! Creating a candle of your own liking is wonderful. By that, I mean you get to pick the scent you like and in addition to that, you can also make the wax a color you want from what is available. Pleasant afternoon with my daughter. Will definitely do it again!!!
