Autumn Containers at the Garden

Take a walk to view the Garden’s fall containers. Then create a cool-season mixed container with a variety of plants suitable for a full-sun or partial-shade location. Your container may include annuals, perennials, herbs, decorative foliage, cool-season vegetables, ornamental grasses, a decorative vine, and gourds. Dress for the weather, and bring gloves if desired.

Bird Walk: Fall Migration

This fall, take a walk in the Garden and learn to identify birds in their sometimes-confusing fall plumage. Earlier bird walks will highlight warblers, vireos, and flycatchers, while later ones will feature ducks, sparrows, and hawks. Local Story: Organic Farm Management

Spend an inspirational hour with a local farmer who owns and manages a small-scale organic farm of 1.3 acres. You will hear the farm’s story of origin—including the trials and errors that come from such an endeavor. Also learn about different techniques they have used to manage their land such as weed management, soil preparation, pest management, and irrigation.
