Alex Forbes has written numerous hit singles, including "Don't Rush Me" for Taylor Dayne (#2 Pop, #3 Adult Contemporary, #6 Dance, ASCAP Pop Award), "Nothin' My Love Can't Fix" for Joey Lawrence (#19 Pop), and "Too Turned On" for Alisha. Her songs have appeared in feature films (Cookie, Cop and a Half, The Experts) and on television (All My Children, Melrose Place, The Guiding Light, Beyond Chance). She has toured the U.S. and Europe in support of her two solo albums, released on independent labels. She has taught at the National Academy of Popular Music. She holds a BA from Stanford University, and was mentored by the legendary Doc Pomus.

Alex is an expert who also knows how to teach, engage and inspire. She adapts to students’ interests and creates a safe space to learn. I especially appreciated her structured format and rhythm of teaching concepts, showing songs to demonstrate, followed by experiential exercises. The pacing kept me engaged throughout the day. I highly recommend this for both people who have never written a song and experienced songwriters looking for concepts, form and structure to take their songwriting deeper.
