Ivo Cristante

Teaches at Studio Arts

Ivo Cristante studied film at York University, Toronto, Canada. While there he received a national government grant to produce a 10 minute animated film (aired numerous times on CBC); another provincial grant to produce a short film on historical aircraft; a commission to write a script for the National Film Board of Canada and produced a short film on air sail (aired numerous times on CBC). Graduated 1975. He worked as staff art director for Film DR, Edmonton, Alberta until 1977 then moved to Los Angeles. From 1978 to 1980 Ivo worked as a property master, set decorator, construction coordinator until he got his first feature film as a production designer in 1981 - "They Call Me Bruce". He worked as a production designer ever since doing mostly low budget films which included "Amazon Women on the Moon" (Landis/Weiss), "Tremors I and II" (Gayle Anne Hurd), "Child's Play II". And then television with "Parker Lewis Can't Loose" (permanent sets) and "First and 10" (HBO, 3rd season). Eventually settled into Warner Bros and "ER" for 9 seasons. Ivo has also had the privilege to give a number of talks to the American Institute of Architects, Hospital and Health Care Design Conferences in Boston, Houston and The Netherlands (1999, 2000 and 2002). In 2003 he was asked to be the president of the jury for a Northern Italian film festival: La Mostra del Cine Friulano. In 2004, he began to learn digital design starting with Maya, Aftereffects, Photoshop, Vectorworks. This lead to teaching Maya for various LAUSD Vocational schools and "Maya for Art Directors" and "Photoshop for Art Department" for Studio Arts.
