Traditionally, injection-molding simulation has been performed using a single simulation, iterative approach. While this can be effective, it is often inefficient and requires the analyst to draw conclusions and gather data independent from the software. This course will introduce the user to the integrated Design of Experiment Module (DOE) built within Autodesk Moldflow Insight, and the analyst can use this module to find an optimized solution more quickly than the traditional approach. Additionally, injection-molding simulation allows the user to analyze both geometric (part thickness, rib thickness, gate size) and processing variables, which become difficult of prohibitive for physical DOE's after a mold is constructed. Alternatively, sometimes a user only wants to quickly gather information on certain parameter values on the end quality of the molded part.
Therefore, a parametric study will also be presented for the user. After the class, the student will be able to: Understand the theory of design of experiments and how it can save you time and money, Understand the difference between a DOE and a parametric analysis, Make geometric features (wall thickness, rib thickness) variables in the DOE, Set-Up and interpret the DOE module results to optimize processing conditions for Mold Filling, Cooling, and Part Warpage, Understand how to read and interpret a response surface plot
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
