Students are required to have internet access necessary devices, and a valid email address that student check regularly in order to take these classes.
Our Remote Live classes are conducted virtually using the platform of the instructor's choosing (Zoom, Skype...etc.) Meeting information will be emailed to students on the roster prior to the start of the class, therefore it is advised that students register as soon as possible.
If you enjoy reading romance novels, you've probably thought of writing one. This class will give you the tools to start and finish a romance novel you can market and publish.
Through lectures and analysis of the structure of a romance novel, we will start with the basics, learning how to develop sympathetic, believable characters, and move on to explore methods of creating a compelling, novel-length plot.
Writing exercises conducted in class will reinforce each lesson as will enjoyable homework assignments. These will be reviewed in class in a strictly supportive environment. Students will complete the class with a first chapter and/or an outline of their very own romance novel.

This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
You MUST have and input a valid California address and US phone number when signing up for Santa Monica College courses, or you may be rejected from the course. If you do not have a valid US address and phone number, your enrollment will not be accepted.
Santa Monica College's Community Education Office operates from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday, excluding weekends and holidays.
