Learn how to make fabulous tie dye from the comfort of your own home. We will go over 15 folding and dyeing techniques.
You can do the folds along with Catherine and prep the fabric during the workshop. Due to the nature of tie dye it will need to sit overnight before you can open it and wash it. If you buy the suggested kit- please allow at least a week for it to arrive.
Supply List:
1. Tie Dye Kit- I recommend this kit because it gets great saturated colors , it comes with everything you need, and you can choose your favorite color combination- if you want to use another kit that's ok too. If you want to get the kit to go along with the class, choose "class and kit"
2. Something to dye- t-shirt, tote bags, tea towels, anything you want to upcycle. You can dye multiple pieces with one kit (up to 5 t-shirts). Please pre-wash and dry your items you wish to dye
3. Rubber Bands
4. Iron
5. String
6. Pennies
7. Tongue Depressors/ popsicle sticks
8. Dawn dishwashing detergent
9. Drop Cloth to cover the work area - Tie dye can be done inside but if you can do it outside even better.
10. 3-5 gallon Bucket
11. Cling Wrap
12. Plastic Gloves

Catherine fell in love with the art of Shibori while studying textiles in art school. She was inspired to begin her practice after her first trip to Japan and she dove in. She has a studio in Brooklyn for sewing and dyeing. She sells her items at West Elm, Pottery Barn, and the Brooklyn Flea.
