Reviews for Tea Classes in NYC

Tea Classes in NYC are rated 4.6 stars based on 70 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • Our instructor was FANTASTIC! He was super knowledgeable, and made the class both informative and fun.
  • The Basics of Blending Tea

Excellent class, I learned a lot about the different teas, how to brew them at the correct temperatures and time and how to make your own tea blends with tea leaves and various dry herbs
  • Intro to Fermentation: Kombucha

Cheryl Paswater gives a brief history of fermentation then presents all you want to know about SCOBY and Kombucha. Participants take home freshly prepared kombucha with our own baby SCOBY (“symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast").
  • It is very informative class, The instructur was very knowledgeable and wasn't rushed answering my questions. We went over 1 hour for the class, and it didn't seem to bother her. Recommended for beginner tea introduction.
  • Intro to Fermentation: Kombucha

I learnt a lot from this class and the teacher was very friendly and answered all questions very adequately. I'm glad I got a chance to take this class, I really wanted to know many things about brewing my own Kombucha and all my questions were answered. I also have the safety net of knowing that if I need further help, I can always reach out with my questions. Thank you!
  • This class was informative, delightful, and delicious. I brought my mom for mother's day and we had a truly wonderful time. I'd highly recommend it!
  • Excellent class, made me appreciate tea more!
  • Great experience. Friendly, knowledgable, and good atmosphere. Highly recommended. The lesson even ran overtime because we asked so many questions, but the teacher did not even mentioned it. We only realized we were overtime after walking out.
  • Wonderful ! Very knowledgeable and passionate instructor who shared lots of fascinating information that ranged from the global tea industry to how to brew the perfect cup of tea. Tastings included.
  • Tea 102 – Brewing

I have been to three tea tastings and another tea class. This class at Tea Drunk blew them all away. I can't remember the last time I learned so much in one day! Shunan led me through a wonderful and delicious hands-on experience using a gaiwan and brewing gong fu style. We drank multiple infusions of two different teas while she instructed me on the teaware and proper brewing methods for red and oolong tea versus green tea. She also wove in interesting observations about her travels in China, how she chooses which plantations to buy from, and more. Will definitely take another class at Tea Drunk!
  • Black Tea Tasting

Instructor was very knowledgeable, and provided an interesting range of black teas from different regions, discussed oxidation methods, and grading systems. She welcomed questions and comments and was engaging and enthusiastic. Learned a lot!
  • Black Tea Tasting

Interesting selections, friendly and informative time
  • extremely informative
  • I loved this class! I am just beginning to take tea seriously, and this course was the perfect blend (pardon the pun) of verbal instruction combined with tasting. The location was great – Palais des Thes on Prince St is a beautiful little store; the instructor was fabulous, she is a true connoisseur who conveyed information in a passionate, enthusiastic and absolutely understandable fashion, punctuated with frequent sniffs of different teas to illustrate a point. What I learned has already influenced how I am tasting and buying tea. I’m going back for the next level class.
  • This 90-min introductory tea tasting class is great for someone that wishes to learn the basics of tea production, infusion and tasting. The teacher, Aurélie, is extremely knowledgeable about teas and she's also involved in the family business. A very good experience overall.
  • Green Tea Tasting

A great experience, we tried four different types of green tea and learnt a lot about preparing tea and tasting. We also learnt about where we'd been going wrong in the past! Definitely worth doing if you're interested in tea and want to know a bit more. The trainer really knew her stuff and is clearly passionate about tea.
  • We had a great time, very intimate. The instructor's uncle is the buyer and has personal relationships with the plantations. She had also visited some of these plantations and had a lot of knowledge. We had a great time tasting four categories of tea and smelling many both dry leaves and wet.
