Class Description

Description

Meditation and writing bring awareness and help us remember who we are and where we come from. Explore how to connect meditation to writing and how to approach your writing with awareness of the senses, memory, and the imagination.

Develop your ability to “pay attention” to the worlds you are creating in your writing, and discover how meditation and writing complement and help each other.

Bring your work to class and discuss the writing that is before you, what is on the page, and how its potential might expand and fully come to life.

  • Mindfulness and Fiction Writing

Went to first class only - I was expecting meditation and writing exercises to unlock the creative juices / did one meditation - some rude, late person blasted her way in door during it - not good. We spent about an hour reading a short story out loud, then discussed it; also, in my opinion, wasted time taking about what we're writing, why we took the class, what we're reading. Coming from Burbank to Santa Monica in rush hour traffic was bad and class was not worth my time and energy. I did not get what I thought I was signing up for- I would have been delighted with more meditation, followed by writing exercises. The other people seemed to really enjoy it but I was not for me!
