This course is designed for guitarists who have already mastered basic open chords such as D, G, Em, C, D7, A, and E, but desire to confidently play complete songs with varying and sophisticated strumming patterns. Throughout this class, you will develop fluency in transitioning between chords while executing varied strumming techniques, including the remarkably satisfying, widely-used, and incredibly versatile "basic strum" and "best strum" patterns. You will practice these techniques in the context of inspiring contemporary songs by artists including Adele, Bill Withers, Jason Mraz, Ed Sheeran, and others.
Course Structure and Learning Method:
The course follows this approach:
- Attend weekly class sessions to learn new songs and develop musical skills, while receiving encouragement and constructive feedback from your instructor. Course content cycles approximately every eight weeks, so you can begin at any point in the cycle
- Continue your learning at home using the included video practice library. Begin each practice session with the Beginner Guitar 2 warm-up video to strengthen fundamentals and accelerate your progress
- Success depends on consistent review and practice. Regularly watch the Beginner Guitar 2 Class Graduation Video, playing along as many times as needed with pauses and practice stops. Initial confusion may give way to challenge, but you will ultimately master the material
Most students typically graduate from this course level after approximately eight class sessions, though faster or slower progression is perfectly acceptable.
Course Prerequisites: You must have completed Beginners 1 or demonstrate comfort with basic open chords and the ability to play along confidently with the graduation video from the Beginner 1 level class.
