Our Acting 1: Explorations in Acting for Teens (14-18 years old) classes encourage spontaneity, simplicity and fun.
We believe that to act is to PLAY, and that students learn the most in an atmosphere of relaxed positive reinforcement. This class teaches our specific approach to storytelling, and introduces students to the same tools that our adult professional actors work with.
We begin with ensemble building games, then introduce the Barrow Group tools via monologues and scene study. The class culminates in an open class for friends and family to come watch their work.
All exercises are designed to:
Weeks 5 - 9
This is not a performance, but an opportunity for friends and family see their students at work and to observe how our teen Explorations classes run and see The Barrow Group tools at work!
Absence Policy: If your child is going to be absent for any reason, please let the instructors know as soon as possible. This is of the utmost importance. Every week we will be introducing new tools and games with an emphasis on scene work and the concept of working with and being respectful to a scene partner and our fellow classmates.
A gentle reminder: when your child misses class, their scene partner is unable to work that week, as well.
