Learn pottery from start to finish in this pottery crash course in NYC!
If you're curious about pottery making and not sure if you REALLY want to commit to our eight week class, then give this NYC ceramics course a go! It's a chance for complete beginners to try their hand at the potter's wheel, with no experience necessary.
In this pottery class, you will be meeting for three consecutive weeks. Even though this is three weeks long its still very much crash course.
During the first class, you will learn wheel throwing basics of how to make simple forms on the pottery wheel. Then, your instructor will guide you as you try it yourself. You'll be able to try and try again until you get a piece (or more) that you like.
During week two, you will have the opportunity to trim the works from last week by turning them upside down on the potter's wheel. You will also be able to sponge your works to a smooth finish and further refine.
On the last class, you will learn glazing which is how you decorate and add color to your pottery by painting or dipping on a liquid glass suspension. Various colors and surfaces are possible. The works that you create will be ready to be picked up one week after the last class.
This class is great for those who want to experience clay and have their hand in every part of the process from start to finish, allowing the student to be exposed to all the stages of firing and finishing while also getting pottery in time for the holidays!
If you're interested in learning a new and fun hobby, pottery will allow you to dig your hands into clay, unwind, and create unique handmade ceramic goods!
Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

- This class series runs over 3 consecutive sessions, at the same time every week.
Note:
We are excited to share the joy of clay with you! Please note that when you book a class with us, you are paying for the instructional experience, studio time, materials, and the guidance of our instructors, rather than a guaranteed finished product.
Ceramics is an unpredictable art form that goes through many stages—from shaping and drying to complex bisque and glaze firings. While we do our very best to guide your pieces safely through the kiln, ceramics can occasionally crack, warp, or break during the firing process due to natural physical properties.
Complimentary Firing: As a complimentary part of the class experience, we include the firing and glazing for one piece per person (selected by you at the end of the session).
No Guarantees: Because of the inherent risks involved in firing pottery, finished pieces are not guaranteed, and studio fees are non-refundable in the rare event that a piece is damaged during the firing process.
We appreciate your understanding and look forward to getting our hands dirty with the creative process together!
