Handcrafted, Sterling Silver Chain Making Class
Students will use various techniques to create a bracelet from multiple sizes of sterling silver wire
- Metalsmith shop/tool safety
- Measuring and cutting sterling silver wire
- Wire shaping with tools
- Texture/embellish metal using various methods
- Minimal soldering, but some torch work to soften the metal
- Jump ring fabrication
- Filing, sanding and polishing
- Application of patina to metals as desired
- Using a flex shaft rotary tool
BEGINNER CLASS: There are no prerequisites to take this class, but students will need a fair amount of hand strength/coordination to bend and form the wires.
If you are looking to make an awesome jewelry piece very little or no soldering, this project is for you!!! Our experienced metalsmith instructor will walk you through cutting and forming sterling silver wire in to links for your bracelet. You will also learn to make your own sterling jump rings. Multiple tools and techniques will be discussed and used to form and assemble a bracelet you will be ready to show off to everyone.
All tools and materials are provided by Multiplicity Art Studio.
**This is a class that does not involve soldering, but the torch will be used and students will need to have the ability to bend metal in to certain shapes.
**Each student will make one style of bracelet in the class
**Please allow for 2-3 hours to complete this class
Studio Rules:
- Closed-toe shoes required
- Long hair must be tied back at all times
- No loose clothing that could get caught in rotary tools
