Renee Calarco

Teaches at Sahara Dance

Renee Calarco is a playwright and teacher. Her plays include G-d's Honest Truth, The Religion Thing (2013 nominee for the Charles MacArthur Award for Outstanding New Play), Short Order Stories (2007 recipient of the Charles MacArthur Award), The Mating of Angela Weiss, Bleed, First Stop: Niagara Falls, The 12 Days of Christmas, and others. Her plays have been produced, developed, and commissioned by Theater J, Charter Theater, Geva Theatre, Project Y, Adventure Theatre, Pinky Swear Productions, Doorway Arts Ensemble, The Jewish Plays Project, and the Source Theatre Festival. Renee teaches both playwriting and comedy improv at The Theatre Lab, and playwriting at George Washington University. 

Her new immersive theater piece Our National Museum of the Unforeseen Tragedy will have its world premiere by The Welders in 2015. She's a founding member of The Welders and a proud member of The Dramatists Guild.
