Description

Katie Rosenhouse, Chef/Founder of Plum & Honey

Katie moved to New York in 2005 to attend New York University. After obtaining a pastry position at Bouley restaurant in Tribeca, she quickly realized that her love of cooking was ultimately the path she wanted to follow. She enrolled in the French Culinary Institute where she received a Grand Diploma in Pastry Arts. In the years to come, she spent time at Le Cirque, The Russian Tea Room, Geoffrey Zakarian's Country, Olana and the David Burke restaurant group. Along the way she worked as a consultant, helping start-ups and established bakeries with recipe development, kitchen design and staffing. She also freelances as a food stylist, and her desserts have been featured in Food & Wine magazine, Woman's World magazine, New York magazine, The Daily News, Brides magazine, The Daily Meal, The Village Voice, Edible Manhattan, Serious Eats & Eater, among others. After winning $10K on an episode of Sweet Genius in 2011, she went on to work as a Culinary Producer on seasons 2 & 3. She opened Buttermilk Bakeshop in Park Slope in 2013, and successfully sold it in 2018. She continues to live in the neighborhood, and Plum & Honey was launched as her dream kitchen in 2019 where both amateur and professional cooks can gather, cook, and spend time learning new techniques.

The instructor was fantastic. Despite our different levels of experience, we all left having learned something. Great space, clear directions, and plenty to test and take home!

This was a great class and the teacher was super knowledgeable with a great teaching approach. The class was so crowded it hardly felt like I was “really” cooking.
  • Valentine's Macarons

    Anonymous review on 2/10/2020
It was really fun and i and my boyfriend really enjoyed this class but we had to share with our team(4ppl/group), this made us feel pretty uncomfortable at the end when we have to share everything and touching each others macarons(im not a germaphobic but still). And one more thing is they just threw out all left over uncooked doughs...it was a lot but wasted and that made everybody competed to have more and better looking macarons even though its not what they made..... but over all it was a really good date night plan!!

Such a fun class! You work in teams, either the people you came with or they group you with others. You go through the process of making the macarons twice so everyone in the group gets to do each step which is extremely helpful. Will do more classes at this school!

Instructor was positive, supportive and energetic. We needed closer to 2.5-3 hours to really get things completed. Would have wanted a little more instruction with how to put to gingerbread house together. Overall, a really fun class though.
