Description

The name Kouyate comes from times of the empire of the Manding in West Africa during the 1230’s. The name was given by Soumaoro Kante, the King of the empire Soussou at the great Djeli Ballafasseke who was the Djelie of the mandenempire.

The name Kouyate has represented this honor and traditions between Soumaoro Kante an DjeliBallafasseke. It was the Kouyate’s who were the 1st Djeli’s and the Djeli’s were next to the King. To keep the king happy and If the king was mad, the only one to change his decision, It was only the Deli to talk and sing the stories to make the peace. Kouyates’ are Djeli’s who are well known around the world.
