In this two-day workshop we will use plastic forms that can be purchased from a dollar store and turn them into slump and hump molds formed out of plaster for making multiples of the shape.
On the first day we will discuss ways to use the plaster molds to make serving ware such as plates, bowls and tumblers and will learn how to work in plaster.
On day two of the workshop we will learn ways to use our new plaster molds through slab building and slip-casting. We will discuss ways to add additions to the ceramic pieces that make them unique such as different ways of adding feet, rims and other unique touches. This process can be used to create a myriad of shapes and sizes of plates, bowls and tumblers. In the class, we will learn how to work with plaster and clay forming techniques. We will also discuss ways to minimize warping and cracking and discuss proper drying methods for working with plates and bowls.
Workshop is demo only. I will provide notes but students should also bring a pen and notepad for note taking.
Experience Level: Some prior clay knowledge preferred.
Note: Join link and activity access information will be sent by email.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
