Kara Lee Corthron

Teaches at Gotham Writers Workshop

Kara Lee Corthron was a staff writer for the drama Kings (NBC). She is a resident playwright at New Dramatists, and her produced plays include: Julius by Design (Fulcrum Theater), Etched in Skin on a Sunlit Night, (InterAct Theatre Company, Philadelphia), AliceGraceAnon (New Georges), and Holly Down in Heaven (Forum Theatre, DC). She is also the author of the novel The Truth of Right Now (Simon & Schuster, forthcoming). She has received two National Endowment for the Arts grants, is a two-time winner of Lincoln Center’s Lecomte du Nouy Prize, and has won the Princess Grace Award. She has taught at the Einhorn School of Performing Arts, Ohio University, and TheaterLab. She holds a BA from the University of Maryland, an Artist’s Diploma from the Julliard School (where she was also a playwright in residence), and an MA in playwriting, directing, and performance studies from New York University.
