Gamble Staempfli

Gamble Staempfli was born in 1973 in New York City. Today he lives and works in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. In 1996 he earned a BFA in painting from Bard College, which also awarded him the Jane Yacenda Fromm Scholarship. In May 2001, Gamble graduated cum laude from the New York Academy of Art. Gamble started teaching while he was a student; he co-authored/illustrated the "Go Figure" curriculum in 2000, a course of figurative arts training designed to meet the needs of New York City public high school students. Since earning his masters, he has taught drawing, sculpture, painting and pastel drawing at 92nd Street Y and the Educational Alliance. Gamble's work has been shown in a variety of group exhibitions in and around the New York area. In May of 2000, his first solo show, entitled On Dogs opened at F/P Fine Arts in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. His current work, collectively titled The Running Dog, is in progress.
