What you'll learn in this composition class:

Move your images from good to GREAT!

This class is a study in the art of image-making and pursuing your own style.

You will push past your camera knowledge to a new level of great photography by learning visually. You will make the most of every image, using simple and advanced techniques in design as well as several group critiques.

Expect to see what your new tools are including:

Where to position yourself and the camera in the world (perspective and angle)
Camera lenses, focal length and orientation
Rule of Thirds, divine proportion, diagonals, triangles and other geometry
Line, Shape, Form
And much more

As you begin to “see photographically” through your viewfinder, the difference will show in your work. No matter what your favorite subject, we can help you improve your images by utilizing the elements of strong composition.

This class includes several critique sessions where students will be asked to bring prints of their work. More details announced in class.

This class includes assignments and critiques. All subject matters will be discussed – from people photography to landscape/nature to documentary/candid to still life photography.

Registered students are asked to bring note-taking material to the first class.

For Our Online Class Option: The class will be held online via Zoom! There is no subscription necessary. Registered students will receive an invite to join the video conference with your instructor. We recommend that students download the Zoom software in advance to become familiar with the layout.

Refund Policy

Class Cancellation:
Events* at the school are subject to cancellation 24 hours before the first class due to under-enrollment. A full credit or refund will be issued.

Refunds/Withdrawals:
Due to our commitment to instructors, materials and other students, the following refund policy applies:

A 100% refund of your registration fee will be issued if an event is canceled by the school.
A 100% refund will be issued if you cancel your registration more than three full business days** (more than 72 hours) before the event start time. Please email [email protected] to cancel.
A 50% refund will be issued if you cancel your registration within one to three full business days (24-72 hours)** before the event start time.
No refunds will be issued within 24 hours prior to the start of an event or after an event has started, regardless of attendance.
Funds may not be forwarded to any subsequent session or date or other offering due to the limitations of space. Class space may not be transferred to another person at any time.

Make-Up Classes:
At this time, we are unable to offer make-up classes or switch classes during the week due to the full classes and small facility. Thank you for making arrangements to attend the class you chose at the time of your registration. If you are unable to attend your current weekly class, we hope you will consider registering again at a later time.

*The term “event” includes classes, lectures, seminars, workshops, critiques and demos. Basically, anything that you sign up to take.
**Business days are Monday through Friday.
